Deliver Us
Habakkuk 1:2-5; 2:1-4
The lies that are told don’t seem so wrong.
The hard words that are said don’t seem so strong.
The lives that are lived don’t last so long
In a world so dark where hope seems gone
My Lord…
Do You even see the lives that the evil one has caught?
Do You even hear the sound of the battles being fought?
Do You hear the cry of the poor
Or the sound of the unborn child?
And the weeping of a broken heart?
How long should we stand and wait and call?
How long must we watch these victims fall?
When can we cry “Victory!” and see the battle won?
And nothing can save them…You’re the only one.
Do You even see the lives that the evil one has caught?
Do You even hear the sound of the battles being fought?
Do You hear the cry of the poor
Or the sound of the unborn child?
And the weeping of a broken heart?
We are waiting in this darkness for You to set us free
And we are hoping in Your light
Oh come, come, come
Deliver us.
(From the silence we hear Him say…)
I stand on the battlefield as these wars are being fought
And I long so much to save the hearts that he has caught
And I hear the cry of the poor
As I hold the unborn child
And wipe away the tears of the broken heart
And I am waiting as I watch your pain for you to trust in Me
And I am weeping as I watch them go
and come, come to Me.
Oh come, come to Me
Let Me deliver you.
